THE SHIELD OF FAITH

       "Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one". (Ephesians 6:16)

 Paul the apostle emphasize much on this word saying " Above all" from the previous verse he has made mention to us of some other Amour of God to in Christian warfare, since we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against power, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places". (Vs 12) NKJV.

         The adjective "shield" stands to qualify Faith, makes it no to  be ordinary, but strong Faith which carry the uses of the shield. As a "shield" is to warriors, so is "Faith" to a Christian.

        Why is this shield of faith essential to be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked? This is needed to counter every discouragement that comes from our enemies/friend, and family concerning the battle. Faith enables man to stand in the midst of tribulations knowing sure that God will come to his/her rescue.

       Examples are the three Hebrews men (Dan. 3:1-30)

In verse 16 "shedrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer you in this matter.

17. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.

18. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Vs 16-18) NKJV.

     Considering their speech in (Vs 18) "But", they were giving the condition that if peradventure this God serve will not deliver us, forget it, O king; we will still not bow for your God. These men have actually come to the point of total determination which any man cannot just take, but a man who carry the shield of faith.

They made available this shield and was able to use it judiciously even while they were seeing fire, and not just fire but a furnace which was also again heated for seven times. They were able to shield away fear with the shield of faith.

“When a man is embedded with fear, he loses his ground".
